Department of Hydrology, Meteorology and Regulation of Flow
Preparation of aspirants in the department started with the arrival of M.V. Potapov in 1930 and the first aspirants successfully presented their PhD theses under his supervision.
Overall more than 40 postgraduate students prepared and successfully presented their PhD theses. Some of them became Doctors of Science (D.Ya. Ratkovich, G.H. Ismaylov, V.S. Altunin, V.F. Vasilenko, A.K. Zaurbekov). The postgraduate studies of the department included not only citizens of the USSR, but also of Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Algeria, Syria, Kenya and other countries.
Many former postgraduate students of the department became prominent specialists in hydrology and water management in their native countries: Goda Laslo (Hungary), Le Than-Ken (Vietnam), Zaurbekov and Narbayev (Kazakhstan), S.M. Iskanderov (Azerbaijan) and others.
