Research

Department of Complex Use of Water Resources

The department has conducted research on models of many hydro-electro stations (HES): Irkutsk, Saratov, Volgograd etc. Model research is also conducted on structures in Syria and Algiers, on experimental basis for the research of complex use of water resources.

The orientation of further research includes:
- qualitative and quantitative analysis of water availability
- evaluation of anthropogenic effect on water ecosystems
- analysis of water economy enterprises providing social, economic and ecological feasibility of projected works
- prevention and compensation of harmful effects of water
- design of water bodies, research of hydrosystems regime, stochastic and imitational modeling for the substantiation of projected solutions

During the last 8 years the department has produced many instructional guidelines, teaching aids, compiled a textbook, published a monograph on ice hydraulics (D.V. Kozlov). Two DSc and five PhD dissertations were successfully presented.

Currently members of the staff conduct research on the following topics:
- D.V. Kozlov, L. D. Ratkovich, S.A. Sokolova "Development of a classifier of natural and anthropogenic factors affecting water bodies", 2002
- E.S. Beglyarova, A.P. Guryev, S.A. Sokolova, A.M. Bakshtanin "Hydraulic research of models of siphon spillway in Al Sin hydro-complex in Syria".
- E.S. Beglyarova, A.P. Guryev, S.A. Sokolova, A.M. Bakshtanin "Scientific substantiation of project solutions of the surface spillway of the Renem dam", 2002
- D.V. Kozlov "Development of mathematical methods of modeling of ice drifts and accompanying processes"
