Department of Complex Use of Water Resources
The department of Complex Use and Protection of Water Resources (CUPWR) was established in 1981 on the basis of the department "Use of hydro-energy", which was established in 1932 and led by Professor, DSc, Honored Scientist of RF D.Ya. Sokolov.
In 1945 the Laboratory of water-power plants was founded.
From 1941 to 1964 members of the staff developed various compositions of HES buildings and other research the results of which saved the state millions of rubles. The research in the areas of small power systems, melioration, water resources management was successfully continued by our eminent scientists employed at various times by the department: I.I. Kovalenko, V.M. Potapov, P.E. Tkachenko, Ya.V. Flekser, V.V. Shabanov, O.L. Yushmanov, A.A. Wan'kov, A.P. Guryev.
Currently the laboratory is being restored and reconstructed and the experimental research of elements of hydrotechnical objects is renewed.
