History

 
   Department of Theories of Economics of MSUEE was first established in 1943 as part of the Moscow Institute of Water Economy and until 1960 it was called "Department of Political Economy".
 
In 1961 the Institute of Water Economy was included into the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy as a Faculty and the department became part of the Academy.
 
In 1963 the independence of the Institute was restored (it was known as Moscow Hydro-Melioration Institute) and the staff of the department of Political Economy became part of the Marxism-Leninism department.
 
In 1976 the political economy staff was transformed to the newly formed department of political economy. From 1976 to 1984 Docent Stepan Kuz'mich Zolot'ko was the head of the department. It had 6 Docents, 1 senior lecturer and 2 assistants. By the beginning of 1983 all lecturers had the degree of PhD in Economics.
 
In 1996 Moscow Hydro-Melioration Institute was transformed into the University and the department changed its name to the current one. From the end of 1984 to June 1996 the department was led by Docent, Dr. Valentin Nikolaevich Lebedev, then until May 2001 - by Docent, Dr. R.A. Studennikova, and from 2002 - again by Professor V.N. Lebedev. Currently the department employs 2 Professors, 3 Docents and 1 Senior Lab Assistant.
