History
 
The department "Engineering Structures" was founded in 1924 as part of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. In 1930 the department became part of the newly established Moscow Institute of Water Economy (currently MSUEE).
 
The organizer and the first Head of the department was Prof. D. N. Alekseev. He led the department from 1924 to 1930 and from 1938 to 1940.
From 1930 to 1938 Head of the department was Prof., DSc B. N. Zhemochkin
From 1940 to 1975 Head of the department was Prof. DSc A. I. Otreshko
From 1975 to 1987 Head of the department was Prof. Dr. R. I. Bergen
Since 1987 the department has been led by Prof. Dr. V. B Semenov.
 
At various times the department employed: Prof. G. A. Medvedev, Docent A.M. Ivyansky, Docent. S. M. Zhak, Docent A. M. Alekseev, Docent N. F. Skvortsov, Docent E. S. Zhitnitskaya, Docent R. V.
