As it is mentioned in the "History" page Professor A.N. Semihatov played a significant role in establishing the department and conducting research in many areas concerning ground waters. Highly valued by the scientific community are also the efforts of DSc, Prof. M.I Tolstoy. During the last few years DSc, Prof. D.A. Manukyan, PhD, Docents I.M. Lomakin, M.V. Zemlyannikova, V. S. Drozdov and aspirants D. Dzhappuev and O. Kizarisova have been conducting research on hydrogeologic problems of pollution of the environment, geo-ecology and monitoring of the technology of natural resources. As a result of this research Prof. V.I. Smetanin successfully presented his DSc dissertation in the year 2000. Members of the staff also participated in research of the following topics: - utilization of technogenic brine formed in Astrakhan; - geo-information model of the territory of irrigation system "Kulikovskii"; - substantiation of the complex of measures for the design of an underground parking area. Currently research on geo-ecological problems of formation and prognosis of mudslides (D. Dzhappuev and O. Kizarisova) is also conducted. |
