HISTORY

---

        The Department of Melioration and Re-cultivation of Lands is the oldest in the University and in Russia. It was established in 1919 as part of the Petrov Agricultural Academy. In 1930 on its basis the Moscow Hydro-melioration Institute was created.
    The organiser and the first head of the Department was the creator of the Russian science of Melioration Aleksei Nikolayevich Kostyakov (active until 1957).
