DIPLOMAS

DIPLOMA PROJECTS
Diploma projects are one of the most important stages in the education of a specialist. They model the future practical activities of the specialist. Every year Diplomas are prepared by about 150 students of the on-campus and 40 - of distant education.
It is worth mentioning the diversity of the diploma topics. Projects in various natural and managerial conditions differ in orientation of the agricultural production, methods and techniques of irrigation.
Topics, as a rule, correspond to the objects of the future work of the student. The majority of foreign students obtain source materials for their projects during the pre-diploma practice in their native countries or in various organisations in Russia and in the Department.
The department regularly renews the source data for the diploma projects and often invites Project Leaders from various organisations in Moscow as supervisors.
The topics of the diploma projects reflect such important problems as development of special kinds of irrigation with the use of waste-water, water from Thermal Electro-stations with higher temperature etc.
As a rule, technical decisions in the project are based on the analysis of several possible variants.
The final decision is confirmed by technical-economical calculations.
The project includes issues such as effect of melioration on the environment and its protection, and prognosis of the state of the lands due to melioration.
Part of the projects solve real-life problems. Some of them compete with solutions given by Research Institutions (projects for Afghanistan, Kenya, Voronezh region and others). Such projects are then used in production. Students use materials for their projects from State Standards, various methodolo-gical instructions and the text book "Writing Diploma Projects", Т991. The Distant Education students usually write the projects based on the materials from their own organisations.
The Department invites to participate in supervision of projects the Staff from its branch in the city of Kolomna, and specialists from various Research Institutions (Sovintervod (former Soyuzgyprovodhoz), Rosgyprovodhoz, Mosgyprovodhoz and others.
Teachers from other departments also provide consultations to the students.
The projects are usually marked by the Staff of other special departments of the University.
