LIBRARY
The Library of MSUEE has its beginnings at the time of
establishment of MSUEE - 1930. The first Head of the Library was Alexandr
Vasilievich Shaf.
Today librarian complex of the University consists of a
Reading Room in the second Campus, Scientific Reading Room in the first Campus,
Catalog Room, Loan System, Book-Funds and Book-Storage. The Reading Rooms can
fit 200 persons each and are characterize by technically good lighting and
convenient service for the readers. From the 2000/2001 academic year the Library
in collaboration with the firm "Liber"
is implementing a computerized Catalog. From September 2002 a new version
of the program "Liber-media" will start functioning.
Every year the Library receives 255-300 thousand rubles for the renewal of its
book-funds.
Total volume of the book-fund consists of about one million
Typographical Units of which (by Jul 1st 2001):
- Scientific Literature consists of 149643 TU;
- Educational - 498692;
- Foreign - 9100;
- Fiction - 33685;
- Various Standards and Dissertations - 263453;
- Other - 141263.
In one year the Library services more than 190000 readers and
issues about 63000
copies of various documents.
In some Chairs of the University special Methodic Offices are
functioning (for example Office of Humanitarian Sciences), where many books on
particular subjects are collected. These books are extensively used in the
Educational Process.
The Library Staff makes serious effort to promote the
available book-funds. About 3000 publications are demonstrated every year in
various Exhibitions, more than a thousand - on open displays and about 15000 are
exhibited in the open access of Reading Rooms. Every year the Library conducts
seminars for the 1st year students on the use of the materials in the Library.
The Staff also helps the students to find the materials for their assignments
and Diplomas.
The further development of the Library is linked to the use
of Computer Technology and advanced software.
